Affordable Lawyers
Lawyers are too expensive for most people. If a person loses their job, they are most likely worrying about paying for their basic expenses. Can a person out of work afford to hire an employment lawyer to negotiate their severance package or investigate their termination? For many, this is not an option.
At our law firm, we are lowering our rates so more people can afford an employment lawyer. Our top rates have been $500 an hour and for some cases we are now charging $200 an hour. Our goal is to have a flat rate of $200 an hour. But it is a challenge to offer these rates and stay in business. For most law firms, the biggest expenses are commercial real estate (fancy offices) and paying the salaries of lawyers and support staff. We are reducing our real estate use and turning to very experienced lawyers who would prefer to work from home. This allows us to reduce our costs and provide excellent legal services at affordable rates.
I do not know of any other law firms that are trying to restructure their operations in order to lower their prices. In fact, most firms are raising their prices.
